From Urbanite to Upgrade: A Cost Controller's Journey Through Goss Press Maintenance

That Tuesday Morning When Everything Changed

So the payback timeline? If you look at pure cost savings (no emergency calls, lower waste, less downtime), we saved about $16,000 in Year 1 vs. keeping the Urbanite. That's on top of the ~$42,000 in projected costs we avoided. The capital investment plus installation comes to about $184,000. The Lessons (That I Wish I'd Learned Sooner)

If I were advising my past self, here's what I'd say—and maybe it helps you too:

1. Track total ownership cost from Day 1.
Not just parts. Not just labor. Track downtime in billable hours. When I finally did that, the decision became obvious.
